Motrex LLC Senior Mechanical Project Engineer in Salina, Kansas

Overview

Self-Starter with excellent problem solving, communication and project management skills. Must be able to effectively direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority for planning, control and timely completion of assigned mechanical engineering projects. Emphasis placed on safety, budgeting, work quality and teamwork. Work effectively with all departments to establish operational efficiency of production equipment, which relate to elimination of recurring equipment issues, continuous improvement, equipment modular quick change and setup reduction. Supports continuous improvements through lean initiatives, automation, modification of existing equipment and processes along with new equipment development.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully and individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

  • This is a hands-on job. Person will be required to work on assigned projects to completion.

  • Provides production support to the oxide, metals, pasting, assembly, formation, and Distribution Center as required.

  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors.

  • Provides technical support and training for maintaining and upgrading and standardizing all mechanical equipment. Special emphasis on automation, quick-change device, module replacement and set-up reduction.

  • Plans and formulates Kaizen events and organizes teams according to project requirements.

  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments (automation), scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases, as required.

  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.

  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and Federal OSHA, EPA, and employment laws.

  • Reviewed and complies with Quality Initiatives and ISO/TS 16949:2002 procedures.

  • Follow Excell Lean manufacturing procedures.

  • Will be required to conduct training classes with technicians to improve our support staff.

  • Perform other work as assigned by the supervisor or management personnel.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills Required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or a minimum of seven years proven mechanical experience in equipment design, new equipment build, used equipment rebuild/automation and preventive/predictive maintenance support.

Physical Requirements: General walking, bending, lifting, and climbing to access workstations and related equipment and processes. Work environment: general office, fabrication shop, and production floor.

Equipment Used: Must possess required computer skills to properly and effectively perform job. Computer skills that will be required relate to Microsoft office programs i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point and project management. Other computer skills required to properly and successfully complete assigned tasks.
