Motrex LLC Quality Lean Lead in Ruckersville, Virginia

Overview

The Quality Lean Lead is responsible for ensuring the continued plant adherence to the Stryten quality plan. Provide technical support to all plant personnel as required while maintaining incoming, in process, and outgoing quality. Interprets quality standards, conducts capability studies, troubleshoots quality problems, and provides prompt corrective actions to rectify quality issues. Lead and drive lean manufacturing techniques to improve the manufacturing flow and reduce workflow wastes.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES/AUTHORITIES :

  • Schedule and conduct MSA’s on all testing procedures. Communicate results and work with other facilities to make appropriate corrections until MSA’s are passed.

  • Verify that proper testing techniques are complied with operator, quality, and supervisors.

  • Responsible for warranty and customer returns being evaluated, documented, and proper corrective action forms are filled out and submitted on time.

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of PPAP parts through the plant process – manufacturing feasibility for supplied components and compliance to Exide procedures for manufactured parts.

  • Participation in the APQP process of new product and process development.

  • Revisions to Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and current testing techniques

  • Participation in PFMEA reviews and development of new testing requirements

  • Voice of customer requirements

  • Shared responsibility with plant process engineering that all PFMEA’s are updated with related documentation.

  • Manage all customer complaints and work with operations to respond and drive corrective actions to closure.

  • Coordinate the data collection and report out of theStrytenprocess and product characteristics as well as all customer required data reports

  • Manage and communicate any changes or replacement of work instructions

  • Coordinate efforts with teams for corrective action resolution on internal KPI’s and external customer issues (assembly plant complaint and warranty initiatives)

  • Provide day to day quality and technical support to all manufacturing disciplines and quality assurance in the form of quality plans, procedures, and engineering support

  • Evaluate employee workmanship, production processes, rework procedures, and measurement equipment to ensure they are under control and capable of producing a consistent quality product.

  • Analyze non-conforming product and internal failure (scrap/rework) cost to develop an action plan report capable of reducing manufacturing costs

  • Coordinate usage of statistical process control to ensure SPC procedures are achieving the desired effect in improving product quality and reducing manufacturing cost

  • Drive lean manufacturing techniques for improvements to the manufacturing process

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Coaching and developing employees for future opportunity and to assure accountability and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

Educations, Experience, Certifications:

  • 4 year degree in technical field or 1-3 years’ experience in similar setting

  • Lean certification, experience highly preferred

  • Six Sigma training (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred

  • Certified quality engineer preferred

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Proficient in problem solving – root cause analysis, 5 why, etc.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Must be quality and customer oriented

  • Knowledgeable in; APQP methodology; Control Plans, FMEAs, and PPAPs

  • Knowledgeablein the lean methodology

  • Familiarity with Quality Operating Systems

  • Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment on multiple projects

  • Strong skills in statistical methods

  • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills -Windows-based programs,specifically MS Excel

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE :

  • 1-3 years related experience in a quality or lean rolein a manufacturing setting

TRAVEL, ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Travel Expectations: ≤ 10%
