Stryten Energy is hiring a new Automation Engineer for our growing corporate automation engineering team. We are looking for someone who capitalizes on a hands-on approach and has a continuous learning attitude to drive our increasing automation needs in the facilities of our components division. The role is highly visible and impacts our manufacturing efficiency rate, operator safety, and uptime among other critical manufacturing targets. Reporting through the automation engineering team, while your primary focus will be on our components sites, you will be part of a team that spans the entire organization. This team is known for its creative problem-solving and troubleshooting, its novel approaches to traditional processes, and its collaboration with the various teams within Stryten. This position can be based at either Columbus, IN, or Milwaukee, WI facilities.

Responsibilities
Onsite Technical Support
Grow process knowledge and expertise related to plastics and component manufacturing.
Establish and mature production maintenance tasks, procedures, and critical spare part inventory.
Complete Risk assessments of automated equipment, identify and correct equipment hazards, assist in the development of LOTO procedures.
Develop testing process’ and calibration procedures including but not limited to pressure transducers, thermocouples, weigh scales, linear potentiometer, photo-helic, machine vision, and laser displacement.
Capital Project and Process Development Support
Scope, spec, and assist in the design of plastic assembly equipment including but not limited to machine vision systems, ultrasonic welding equipment, hot plate weld assembly, pressure decay tests, high voltage dielectric tests and automatic insert loading and part take-out solutions.
Develop upgrade plans for existing equipment and implement them for all like equipment including the addition of PID loops and SCADA development with MES integration.
Gather data on manufacturing processes, analyzing them for improvement opportunities. Including but not limited to assisting plastic process engineers with problem identification, optimization, and improvements during the startup and PPAP processes.
Make improvements to process key metrics through automation changes targeting uptime, quality, labor requirement reductions, and rate increases.
Onsite Personnel Support
Implement training programs for technicians and maintenance personnel.
Develop training and technical documents to present and/or instruct others on new process changes or machine modifications.
Foster strong relationships across the organization. Treat all employees with respect and be a peacemaker and team builder.
Qualifications
Bachelors or greater in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering.
2+ years of hands on experience in process or manufacturing engineering, with a track record of driving operational excellence
Experience with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, or Toshiba
Experience with any HMI and/or Operator Interface programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Ignition, Wonderware, Intellution, Factory Talk View, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, or US Data.
Proficient with Diagnostic/calibration equipment including but not limited to DMM, signal simulation, oscilloscope, megohmeter, pressure calibration, high voltage calibration.
Proficient with CAD drawing packages and able to and/or update drawing packages as needed
Familiar with motion controls systems, servos and modern sensor types and uses.
Familiar with industrial networking technologies including Ethernet/IP, Controlnet and Devicenet
Familiar with all aspects of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic machine systems (power sources, energy control, motion devices)
Preferred Qualifications:
Injection molding, and vibratory feed system experience
Vibratory feed systems experience
Record of successfully operating independently with little or no direct supervision
Experience with all Rockwell software packages including but not limited to RS Logix 5, 500 and 5000, Factory Talk view designer, RS Networks, Panelbuilder, kepserver and related communications packages.
Six sigma certification
About the work environment:
You will work in both office and manufacturing environments. Battery manufacturing employs chemicals, heat and heavy equipment, and as such you will at times be exposed to lead, fumes, noise, dirt, hazards, and chemicals, and in all cases will be provided with appropriate PPE.
You must be able to see, hear and speak; able to sit, stand for at least two hours at a time, sit, bend, crawl, squat, kneel and climb able to use both arms and hands to use a computer and peripherals and lift 40 pounds from floor level, able to work below ground level in confined spaces and on stationary or mobile elevated platforms, able to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, able to climb stairs.
Position is based out of Columbus, IN or Milwaukee, WI with 50% travel to for the first 6 months. Travel will reduce to 20%.
This is a full time position, and working at the plant is required.
