The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will participate in all phases of new product development including concept, layout, and final design. Responsibilities will include:
Design of sheet metal cabinets and enclosures, plastic injection molds and extruded aluminum components
Complete product assembly drawings including exploded views.
Thermal modeling of power electronic systems using Solidworks Flow Simulation
Photorealistic rendering of product models using Solidworks Visualize Professional for use in service, installation, and marketing documentation.
Work closely with the electrical engineering team during the design process to integrate product PCBs and electrical wiring into the mechanical models.
Work closely with manufacturing to eliminate manufacturing and assembly problems to achieve desired efficiency and cost reductions.
Develop and maintain all CAD data (3D Models, 2D Drawings, Assemblies, etc.) and engineering mechanical documentation using Solidworks PDM.
Oversee drawing and document revisions as necessary to maintain revision integrity.
Create structured bills of material for purchasing, manufacturing and product assembly.
Be capable of working independently while contributing to a fast-paced team development.
Coordinate Solidworks CAD software installation, training, and license-sharing pool.
Ideal candidates will possess technical expertise in mechanical engineering including:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline with 2+ year’s equivalent experience required.
At least 2+ years’ experience with CAD design in a Solidworks environment designing functional parts and assemblies.
Candidates should be competent in SolidWorks, Stress Simulation, Flow/Thermal Simulation, and Solidworks Workgroup PDM (product data management).
