Motrex LLC Buyer in Charlottesville, Virginia


The Buyer position is responsible for procurement, inventory management and tracking of parts usage. The position is further responsible for the timely planning, scheduling, receipt, and inventory control of productive material. This role must have an understanding of the procurement process and purchasing policies, and be able to analyze cost savings opportunities. Individual will work closely with warehouse to identify storage locations for every part.


  • Purchasing of inventory and prototype materials for plant operation and engineering group.

  • Extensive knowledge and ability to discuss vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific schedule requirements

  • Work with suppliers to maintain required stocking levels, billing, payment terms and inventory review as necessary.

  • Tracks and enters Purchase Orders/requisitions and monitors progress and completion of purchasing documents

  • Manages inventory and conducts inventories of critical components

  • Responsible for establishing an operating database for every inventory part number

  • Receives inventory and processes receipts per policy.

  • Verifies parts received meet all quality requirements and resolves deficiencies

  • Manages vendor managed inventory orders and receipts then insures all parts are properly stocked.

  • Identify and coordinate cost reduction opportunities with Corporate, Plant Manager and suppliers

  • Monitor inventory performance at a part number level

  • Perform physical inventory of parts according to corporate policy and in coordination with warehouse team, and comply with cycle count procedures

  • Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures

  • Place materials orders in a timely and effective manner to support production plan.

  • Enter daily production accurately

  • Deliver ad hoc reports assigned by manager and perform other duties identified


Education, Experience, Skills Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 1 - 3 years of purchasing and material scheduling experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the mentioned tasks

  • Warehouse management experience is a plus

  • Excellent written and oral communications are essential as negotiations will be an important role in this position

  • Strong computer skills. Experience in ERP system a plus. Preferred experience in MISys

  • Exposure to manufacturing of Electronic components or industrial chargers a plus

  • Working knowledge on inventory management techniques desired
