Motrex LLC Material Handler I in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Overview

Stryten Energy has openings for Materials Handler at our facility in Manchester, Iowa.

Starting pay is $23.18 per hour! Schedule is 8am - 4pm

Must be able to operator forklifts and have a CDL.

This position is eligible for our $1,000 sign on bonus.

This position is responsible for the movement of all material within the plant located in our shipping/hi rise area.

Responsibilities

  • Must be appropriately forklift licensed in order to operate stand-up, sit-down, and order picker forklift equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Must use proper forklift battery charging procedures and routinely complete pre-operating checklist before operating any equipment. Operating requirements include always having forklifts under control, operating safely around and always yielding to pedestrians, never driving without brakes or horn; never exceeding load limit of vehicle; beeping at intersections and before entering or turning into or around any corner, never ride the clutch; operates vehicle at safe speeds and with a minimum of dust generation.

  • Must move material safely and without damage or risk to personnel, building, property, or product and must report unsafe conditions.

  • Must spot trailers for loading or unloading as needed and load and unload over-the-road trailers with powered equipment.

  • Must be able to accurately identify battery types, ensure inventory accuracy, and use proper methods of material storage, including completing necessary paperwork for shipping, storage, scrapping, or red-tagging of product and to ensure product moves are entered into the locator system.

  • Must be able to reorganize materials and product for smooth production flow, efficient storage and inventory. Ensure safe transporting routes are established and maintained.

  • Must be able to understand, communicate, and utilize simple English and basic mathematics in order to receive training, instruction, and perform responsibilities. Must be able to understand quality characteristics and ensure outgoing product adheres to customer specs.

  • Must effectively work with a multiple person team in areas containing electrically powered machinery, conveyors, computers, and ventilation equipment.

  • Must be able to work safely and comply with safety and health regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers and give special awareness to the hazards of high density storage and equipment used.

  • Must learn and follow quality specifications which may include proper filling out of forms and other material control documents as required.

  • Should have excellent attendance and must comply with the company attendance policy and absence reporting procedures

  • Must adhere to plant policies and procedures depicted in the employee handbook as well as conform to accepted general practices and conduct.

  • Perform other work as assigned by the supervisor or supervisory designee.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read, write and perform simple math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, average etc.).

Equipment:

Small hand tools, battery charging equipment, and safety equipment.

Protective Equipment:

Must wear work uniform, personal protective equipment including safety glasses with sideshields and steel-toed shoes. Blue leather, blue hynit, or white cotton gloves as needed and respirator as needed and required by LIA or bloodlead list.

Physical requirements include occasional handling of empty wood or plastic pallets and utilizing battery charging equipment. Occasional handling of materials of up to 70 lbs is required. Requires continuous standing with occasional turning and bending.

Must have class A Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat endorsement with excellent past driving record to move materials with tractor and trailer to and from plant and warehouses as needed. Must be able to satisfactory meet and pass Exide and Department of Transportation requirements for drivers. Requirements include satisfactory completion of written drivers test, hazmat certification testing, road testing, DOT required physical exam, alcohol training, and satisfactory past employer reference checks as required by the DOT.

Housekeeping:

Must maintain a clean and orderly warehouse as well as work and route area at all times. Keeps aisleways clear of product and maintain accessibility to all electrical panels, fire extinguishers, fire doors, and exit areas in adherence to safety procedures. Help to ensure broken skids, scrap cardboard, used plastic wrap, etc. are immediately removed from warehouse or production areas.

Facilities/Working Environment:

May be exposed to extreme hot, humid, and cold working conditions. Will be exposed to lead in the form of dust, sulfuric acid vapors, moving equipment, and other hazards.

Personal Hygiene:

Must be able to follow work instructions and procedures satisfactorily enough to ensure that high bloodleads do not lead to medical removal. Adherence to General Policy includes shower and shampoo at the end of each work shift.
