Motrex LLC Senior Director, IoT Development in Alpharetta, Georgia

Overview

The Senior Director, IoT Development is responsible for the life cycle planning of IoT and other business applications through the phases of strategize, architect, select, deploy, operate, evolve, and retire. They direct a team of internal and external developers and oversee high level strategic and tactical decisions for both product and business-related applications. This role requires the development and management of application portfolios for each product and/or department and to attain all service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The director will collaborate with Product Marketing to define requirements for outward facing product centric applications. It is a leadership position that entails guiding and coaching others. Engagements will be across both internal and external groups, consultants and teams, of planning and overseeing of projects and budgets and design of functional strategies is required. Authoring statements of work (SOWs) and assuring compliance to such for all related stakeholders is central to the role. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Essential Power Division/Stryten Energy.

Responsibilities

The Senior Director, IoT Development will oversee all activities that optimize the value, cost and risk of applications:

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the IoT development organization to ensure it will contribute to the company achieving its goals.

  • Work with VP and other Stryten/Essential Power leaders to develop overall IoT strategy in the context of the Stryten Corporate and Essential Power divisional strategies.

  • Develop productive relationships with business leaders across the organization to influence how applications can enable new sources of value.

  • Define and enhance methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that applications processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.

  • Manage development group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.

  • Implement and manage application life cycle management status reporting, metrics and benchmarks.

  • Identify, select, and manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.

  • Conduct regular surveys of stakeholder satisfaction with applications, publish the results and, where necessary, implement action plans to improve satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

  • A Minimum of 5 years of technology leadership experience managing a larger team in application development and implementation.

  • Must have at least 10 years of experience working in various technical roles and full understanding of IoT best practices preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC)

  • Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem solving skills

  • IT/IoT/Software Development contracts and their likely cost implications.

  • IoT/DBA applications, operations, service, and support organizations.

  • Data processing, analysis and quality management tools.

  • Development and implementation of processes and policies.
